Council Bluffs Schools Foundation Awards Over $83,000 in Classroom Grants

Council Bluffs, Iowa – The Council Bluffs Schools Foundation is proud to announce it has awarded $83,069 in classroom grants to educators across the Council Bluffs Community School District—marking the largest total ever awarded in the program’s history.

Each year, in partnership with the school district, the Foundation provides licensed staff with grants of up to $1,000 to bring innovative, hands-on, and student-centered ideas to life. This year, 104 projects were funded thanks to the generosity of local donors and business partners who believe in the transformative power of public education.

“We are humbled and grateful to award a record-breaking $83,069 in classroom grants this year,” said Bridgette Watson, Executive Director of the Council Bluffs Schools Foundation. “Our educators continue to inspire us with their creativity and dedication, and we’re incredibly fortunate to support their work. These grants are only possible because of the generosity of our donors and community partners, whose belief in our schools makes a lasting difference for students.”

This incredible milestone would not be possible without the generous support of our Community Impact Sponsors:

The Lozier Foundation, Cox Communications, Google, Iowa Western Community College, American National Bank, and John Dresher, American Family Insurance.

Your investment in education is transforming classrooms and enriching the lives of students and teachers across our district. Thank you for making an impact where it matters most.

The grants support a wide range of educational initiatives, including CADD and design programs, advancing robotics, STEM stations for science classrooms, bilingual books, and phonics tools—all designed to expand opportunities and spark engagement for students across all grade levels.

“We’re so grateful to the Foundation and every donor who makes this possible,” said Superintendent Dr. Vickie Murillo. “This kind of support energizes our teachers and enhances learning for every student.”

“The creativity and passion we see in these grant proposals is inspiring,” said Erin Johnson, President of the Foundation’s Board of Directors. “Our community continues to step up for education, and we’re incredibly thankful.”
