Education is Everyone’s Business Luncheon

Thank you to all who helped make the 2024 Education is Everyone’s Business Luncheon an amazing event!

The luncheon serves as an opportunity to inform business and community partners of the important things happening in our schools. The luncheon is also an opportunity to discuss the critical task of supporting public education through partnerships with businesses, organizations, and community leaders.

The event featured Foundation updates from Executive Director Bridgette Watson and a keynote address from Superintendent, Dr. Vickie Murillo and Steve Gering, a national education leadership consultant.

Community Impact Award

It is our tradition to recognize a special person during the luncheon who is truly making an impact in our community with our annual Community Impact Award.

The purpose of the Community Impact Award is simple: to recognize partners of the Council Bluffs Schools who are working to improve the lives of our children and families, and create a better future for our community.

Dr. Susan Toohey is one of those individuals. As the Director of Educational Initiatives for the Lozier Foundation since 2014, Dr. Toohey is immersed in projects that make a difference in our metropolitan area.

We are proud to count on Dr. Toohey as a distinguished partner and friend of the Council Bluffs School District community. She exemplifies the Community Impact award’s name through funding and partnerships to expand educational opportunities and to shine a light on educational leadership. As an educator herself, she understands and appreciates what an investment in schools and educators can do for the broader community.
