Amelia's Story

Upon enrollment Amelia, STARS scholar from 2014-2017, had completed her associates in marketing and wanted to pursue her bachelors degree. After graduating in 2017 with her bachelors of science in marketing from Bellevue University, Amelia began working for the STARS program as the program assistant to give back to the program but also assist her with moving towards becoming a college admissions counselor. In 2018, she began working at Bellevue University as an Admissions Counselor where she decided to again further her education and graduated with her masters in organizational leadership in 2019. Amelia says, “I love my job, I have the opportunity to tell my story to students who think they cannot complete their degree because of everyday life in hopes to inspire them as I was being a STARS scholar.”

Amelia Fenn knows first-hand the challenges that come with being a single mom while pursuing her college degree. Amelia says, “Through the support and dedication from STARS, I was able to learn how to balance family, a full-time job and academics. I came from a low-income family and I never envisioned that I would own my own home, have a successful career and be able to afford vacation(s) and extra-curricular activities for my children and myself. With the help and support from STARS, I was able to push myself and I made my dreams come true."
